Magnetic Island

To get to Magnetic Island we had to get the ferry from a place called Townsville. It took about 3 hours or so to get there from Airlie Beach and then it was around a 35 minute ferry journey which was pretty enjoyable as we got to see some dolphins swimming beside us in the sea. When we got to Magnetic Island our Driver took us to a walking path where there was the possiblity of spotting some Koalas wooo!!

When we got there a few people had just come from the walk and said they had spotted some Koalas so I couldn't wait to find them as I hadn't seen any yet. About half way down the route was a Koala getting some kip in the tree and he looked wikkid. Some more people then passed us and said there was another Koala further up so we left and carried on the walk keeping our eyes peeled. A few people walked passed the next koala which was only a baby but I spotted it and managed to get some really good close up photos and even managed to get a really kool video of the koala in the tree. That was the main Oz animals ticked off the list now so anything else was a bonus, I didnt want to leave not having seen a Kangeroo and an Koala!

We then went to our Hostel which was right on the beach and was quite nice. Got everything sorted there and then went to the bar for some dinner and a few drinks. They were holding a Quiz night and the prize was the free day hire of a topless beach buggy. A group of us decided to enter anyway even though we were leaving the following day so if we did win the prize would be useless. The quiz consisted of three rounds, the first two were general knowledge and the third a physical round. We managed to do realy well in the first round and only got 1 answer wrong. In the second round we got a few wrong but we were still in about 3rd place. No-one had a clue what the third round involved but we all nominated Rollo who was one of the guys off the Oz bus. The concept of the third round was that a member from each team went and sat on a chair which were all in a line. The quizmaster then called out an object that each person would have to go and get and return to there seat but each time a seat was taken away so someone went out each round. You were scored on how long you stayed in the game e.g. If you were the first one out you only got 1 point, then the next person 2 points etc. The quizmaster called out things like 2 pairs of shorts, a lit cigarette, and 4 bras which each person had to race around trying to get off people. It was really funny and Rollo did really well and got second place which put our team into the lead overall and made us CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was so good to win and even though we couldnt use the buggy we also got 3 jugs of beer between us for winning. We ended up giving the buggy ticket away to a guy from our bus that was staying another day so he was happy!

I hadnt brought my camera out with me so went back to the room so I could fetch it and get some glory photos. I went to turn my camera on and it made came up on the screen saying "lens error" nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!! I didnt have a clue why it was saying this as it wasnt like I had dropped it or anything it was totally out of the blue. I spent a while trying to fix it by taking out the battery etc but nothing seemed to work :( I didn't know what to do and the Internet room was closed by this time so I decided to wait until I got to Mission Beach where I could go and investigate the problem on the Internet.
